INVISIBLE DENTAL BRACES?

Can Dental Braces Really Be Invisible?

Straight and even teeth are important as part of making an enticing smile. By the use of cosmetic dentistry, dentists can make teeth whiter, but if they are imperfect, making them whiter would only help to emphasize this fact. For several years, in the shape of metallic dental braces, the treatment for straightening teeth was highly noticeable. Thankfully, this does not have to be the case today.

A variety of orthodontics are now available which provide a way to straighten your teeth without even noticing people. This is done by devices such as Invisalign and Damon Transparent, ‘invisible braces’. We will take a look at this new dental occurrence in today’s Dentist Travel Turkey’s blog.

Old style braces

Certainly, having to wear very noticeable braces deters some people, merely because of their appearance, from having their teeth straightened. Common braces like this will also create problems with the oral health of the patient as well. The wires and brackets will make cleaning the teeth more difficult, while encouraging the accumulation of food and bacteria at the same time.

If you wear dental braces of this kind, a mixture of these variables may mean that decay is more likely. Modern simple braces will help prevent this problem.

Invisible braces

To answer the question ‘can dental braces actually be invisible? Of course, the response is no. If they were, after washing, you wouldn’t be able to see them bringing them back in (more of that shortly). However, they are very simple and use a high-grade medical plastic that gives them a translucent look and provides a decent degree of strength as well. They are very subtle when patients wear the braces, and it is possible that only people who are close to you are going to spot them at all.

As they remove the need for wires and brackets entirely, these ‘invisible braces’ are different from conventional ones. Instead, the trays sit directly over the teeth. Each serving to eventually ease the teeth into the correct location. Not only are these discreet trays translucent, and therefore barely visible, but the patient can not withdraw them.

Traditional braces vs. Invisible braces

We have previously said that conventional braces cause food and bacteria to accumulate in them as well as make it more difficult to clean the teeth. The method of using certain trays on two key points counteract this. First, though food will get stuck between the teeth and the trays, this is only temporary and will only last until the teeth are brushed. Secondly, for necessary cleaning as well as while you feed, the trays are designed to be removed by the patient. The willingness to remove them yourself suggests that the daily brushing and flossing regime can be continued.

As advised, making sure you brush and floss your teeth properly, as well as keeping the trays clean, ensures that there is no excuse why you should be at greater risk of tooth decay than someone else. If you forget to clean them, of course, decay is very possible.

A more appealing smile will also end up in our Dentist Travel Turkey patients who have these treatments; perhaps one of the key reasons why this therapy is so successful. You will continue to wear retainers after your procedure, as with most orthodontic treatment, and we will discuss this with you before you make a formal decision to proceed.
